Welcome to Salterns Sailing Club!
We now have a small waiting list for 2011.
Previous Salterns Members can keep in touch at Salterns Sailing Club Old Salts
Salterns is a sailing club for children, where they can learn to enjoy sailing and gain experience in dinghies such as Optimists, Moths and Scows. The club is run entirely by volunteers, with both a junior and senior committee.
The Salterns Pond is a site of Special Scientific Interest, created from an old saltpan, and is about 1 metre deep. The facilities are located right on the “old salt pond”, with a small clubhouse holding the changing rooms and the kitchen, and a dedicated yard containing a varying range of club boats. You can also bring your own boats if you wish.
The club was formed in 1960 on land owned by Major Hibbert, to encourage and organise sailing and racing for helmsmen and women under the age of 16 years, and to give its members practical experience in a safe environment.
You can find the Salterns Sailing Club just off Maiden Lane in Lymington, and visitors are welcome.
